We were asked by one of our clients to decommission and remove four old chillers supplying chilled water to two buildings. The new installation was to provide a run and standby chiller for each of the two buildings together with emergency interconnection of the two systems. The chilled water pipe work required modification to firstly separate the two buildings and then to create a primary and secondary loop for each building with emergency interconnection. The chillers were specified with integral pumps with each one capable of providing 100% of the buildings cooling requirement. The provision of cooling to the buildings is absolutely vital and thus as well as the emergency interconnection between the two buildings additional blanked connections were provided to allow the connection of a hired in chiller if necessary.
