Bespoke Test Rig Chiller

A new client in Sunderland tasked us with providing them with a new cooling solution to some stability chamber test rigs that were to be installed. We came up with a solution of having a primary and secondary system to compensate for differences in flow between the new chiller and the potential for having up to four test rigs in use with varying flow rates through the test rigs. The chiller came with its own pump set that was piped to a 2000 litre buffer tank, from the buffer tank a pressure controlled inverter pump took the chilled water and sent it to the test rigs. To give them the required chilled water flow temperature, a three port blending valve was installed on the return leg to introduce some warm return water. This allowed for a consistent flow temperature without the chiller cycling temperature affecting the flow temperature to the test rigs.
